Founded in 1999, occupying the former location of McBride Middle School. The school's formation marked the beginning of a new chapter in the community's commitment to education while honoring the site's long history as a center for learning. By repurposing the middle school’s location, McBride Elementary continues to play a key role in shaping the educational foundation of its students, building on the legacy of excellence that has been associated with the site for generations.
History of McBride
Have you ever wondered where the name McBride comes from? The McBride family has played a significant role in Muscle Shoals since the city was founded on April 24, 1923. George McBride became the city's first mayor on May 28, 1923, and worked tirelessly to shape Muscle Shoals into what it is today. His daughter, Lucile McBride, was a long-time educator and principal at Howell and Graves School, now the Muscle Shoals Board of Education. The land where McBride Elementary, Muscle Shoals Middle, and Muscle Shoals High School stand once belonged to the McBride family, and the school is named in their honor.
